Default 1935 wire wheels on a Model A

Can some one tell me if I can SAFLEY put 1935 wire wheels directly on my Model A, or do I need some kind of spacers?
Thanks in advance.

35 wires will just bolt on, no spacers needed.

This is correct but requires the assumption that you have the original brake drums and have not converted to hydraulic brakes.

Since your car looks to be a 28 or 29 in Avatar...

Also make sure that you do not have early 28 AR drums on the car. See Service Bulletin page 328.

Later wheels including Model A and 35s can not be mounted on early AR hubs. The wrong wheels are not supported properly and can crack and possibly fall off.

Also AR wheels should not be mounted on later drums.

I will learn to use my Service Bulletins. That makes it very clear.

16" wheels will make your car look funny. Don't do it.

What if it has been converted?

Just an opinion here, I think they look great on Model A's. I put them on every Model A I own. Stock wheels look to thin and tall.

If your Model A has been converted to hydraulics and you want to use wire wheels (through 1935) you will need to use adapter rings. If you look on the Model A brake drum you will see a raised ring. Brake drums from 1932-35 had small cast in projections that served the same purpose as the raised ring on the Model A drum. This raised area is missing on the hydraulic drums and you need to make it up with a ring. Most suppliers should have these. Running without them can lead to wheel failure. Probably not applicable to you but running later solid wheels on stock Model A drums (actually through 1935) requires a different ring. Pictures from left to right: Model A drum showing raised ring on original drum, 1932 drum showing cast in projections and 1940 drum showing no raised area.
