Default What is an original 47 Flathead engine worth

I am not sure what happened to this posting before. If I am breaking the rules, please let me know. I thought I have seen this type of question before.

I don't think you're breaking any rules, but maybe you could provide more info about the engine if you want an answer that's narrowed down to a reasonable guess. As is, the best guess is scrap iron price to around $5,000.

Removed running from a 1947 coupe for a small block chevy 12 years ago. Stored indoors on a shelf ever since. Head off cylinder walls look good, very small ridge.

I could easily sell any known good 59 block for between $300 to $500. JM

I bought a running one last summer for $650. Sure it's all apart and at the machine shop right now but aside from some pitted valve seats was a great purchase.
