Default Stop leak additives for 57 TBird transmission.

I know the answer is to replace the seals in a 57 T Bird automatic transmission but does any of the additives that claim to stop leaks actually help or hurt? Using "F" type fluid now. Transmission was "gone over" by someone who supposedly knew what they were doing so trying to avoid another pull, probably better seals are available now then were used in this rebuild about five years ago, doesn't get driven enough.Thank You

I have a leaker myself and used some stop leak and does,nt seem any better.I put a new torque converter seal, in but may have run it dry. This is a 8ba with a c4 in a 39 ford.It has to come out. Good Luck with yours.

Lucas makes the best additive, it will work as long as there is no chunk missing out of the seal, but it is just a temporary fix, seals get hard from setting and wont hold the fluid in, the sealer softens the seal but also makes it prone to failure farther down the road, use it but expect it to last 6 months or so

When you put in a converter, coat the area where the seal goes with vasaline. It will lubricate, then the heat will evaporate it.
