Default Locking hubcap

I just purchased a spare tire locking hubcap on e bay. It appears the same as another that I have with a few exceptions. The biggest exception is that it does not have a Hurd lock cylinder. Did Ford have more than one supplier for these hubcaps?

Yes, Briggs and Stratton versions were available as well (1935). Both the Hurd and the Briggs & Stratton locks used the same key blank/groove for the spare tire locks (in years 1936 autos; 36 thru 39 Pickups. Also the code is stamped on either version of the '36-39 cylinders. The 1935 auto locking Hubcap looked the same, but the lock cylinder was different for the Briggs and Stratton version (used a groove 16 B&S/Basco key).

Hurd and Briggs & Stratton supplied locking caps to Ford, but the Briggs had a different locking cylindar and the key was shaped differently. Se photos below.

The locking cap Mfg name is embossed into the casting on the rear of the cap (at least for Hurd) . Match the lock to the cap.
