Default Stock top crow foot head, again

The 3rd sample casting proved even better than the first 2, which are in the hands of builders. I made 4 more prototypes and here is the first one of those machined. These are around 7:1 (just a bit over).

I was wondering how you could have a 7 to1 without a spark plug recess ...

All 4 of the next samples have been machined and they came out nice. I think all 4 of them are already sold, but I will be making a batch for the next buyers as soon as I have at least a dozen to make.

This is very interesting, (and cool). I have not seen that shape before but I don't know a lot about the different shapes, just that there are several. Can you explain the advantages of this combustion chamber compared to others? Thanks.

Liking that Tod.
The stock 14.9hp head has the sparkplug recess like that.

It is a proven chamber. I used this on my B heads.

I would guess the best way would be to contact Todd via PM or email thru Ford Barn?

The squish area, where the piston comes close to the head, is what give a puff of air that creates the turbulence. The more turbulence the better the performance. The trick is to not cut off the flow of air into the cylinder by the head. Plus, the more centralized the spark plug, the faster the air/fuel will burn which helps performance. I would guess that Tod's head and the Winfield have been designed with these things in mind. The flathead Briggs and Stratton heads were a good design.

Is the head made from gray iron (class 30/40) or ductile iron (60-40-18, etc.)?? Nice looking casting and machining. Are you planning on leaving the foundry logo on the head as well as HT #?

It would be interesting to compare that to the Harley Davidson racing KR750 flatties, which have a similar reputation.

This is a 3 main iron block that will be getting one of these heads.

The iron OHV head is slated for one of my 5 main iron blocks. All of this is currently under way, along with a few aluminum builds as well.

I have a video on Youtube of a B block build with an aluminum OHV if anyone is interested.

Regarding the OHV head, where are the pushrod openings?

Nice work developing the new cylinder head. The combustion chambers look like a modified Ricardo style.
