Default 1939 Deluxe Window Crank Escutcheon Set Up

So recently acquired 39 Deluxe Coupe.
Window winders not fitted. See attached picture. My question is does the smaller round piece sit atop the larger piece or does it sit inside it.
On backside of smaller piece are 4 small tags which line up with the holes in larger piece.
Appreciate all advice with this one.

Those are not 39 DeLuxe escutcheons. The right ones are one piece and have been widely available as reproductions,

Just to clarify, the one at left hand side was in the glove box of the car.
From pictures I presumed it was missing so ordered the one on right hand side from Michael at 3rd Generation. I believe these are correct for 39 deluxe by part No: 91A-7022618!! Or am I missing something here? Both door window escutcheons were missing.
Deluxe is new to me as I am used to 39 standard.

If it matters to you , the correct handle is dark bronze. The one in your post looks like chrome.

Kube thanks for that. Have studied the 39 Book but also hard to pick up from there. This is an original un-restored car and wish to do it justice.
There are marks on door card which suggests the left hand piece due to larger diameter was fitted to these doors.

The one on right is what I purchased from 3rd Generation. Was there a spring fitted in behind these?

there was a spring to keep it snug but it makes installing handle harder. (need that nifty tool drake sells) mine fits fine without the spring.

Tried for tool but 3rd Generation out of stock. Will maybe go without spring as you suggest. Door handles dont have one fitted.
Thanks

The spring goes behind the door panel. You may or may not need one or if you have a nice original car it may already be there.

Learned something new, no wonder I gave up trying to fit it under escutcheon.

Thanks so much for that good piece of info. Something I was totally unaware of. Just got to keep on with the learning.
