Default 1939 Motor - Scrap or Part?

I have a 1939 seized motor. Before I scrap it is there any value in any of the parts?

It depends if you want to invest time and effort into stripping it down. The block may be savable, as might most pieces. There will always be things like starter, pan, flywheel and clutch that are all useful. It's impossible to say what you might want to save off your seized motor if "seized motor" is all the description we have to work from.

If you don't want it, you ought to at least offer it up to someone that might want to invest the time and effort to salvage whatever is salvageable.

If you lived near me I'd take it off your hands.

Mart.

Is it a 3 1/16 bore or 3 3/16?

Thanks Mart. I'm in cleanup mode. I like the idea of handing off instead of scrap. Then again - I do not want a bunch of lookie loos on my property. Bad experiences make for a grumpy outlook.

Seems to me the earlier stuff is getting harder to find. I seem to find more 8BA stuff than anything else when I look around. Hopefully the connecting rods can be saved, I think those are worth it.

Do you know why it seized up? Maybe it can be saved. A complete, re-buildable engine would be great to get back into circulation. I could use a spare, as others could I'm sure. Thanks for posting. Phil

You might want to check this post I started a few years ago. I have never had to junk a seized flathead. They have all come apart without using a BFH to destroy one of Henrys finest. Thanks
