Talking Flathead Suprise

I pulled the intake on my newly acquired 1953 EAC Merc Flathead when I found where Mickey and Minnie were living the life of luxury in the two pounds of Chris Craft upholstery that they hauled down the oil filler tube!

I can top that. I am restoring a 31 Chevy Landau Phaeton. To make things faster, I got a 1930 engine and trans from a running car. I pulled the trans off the engine to see if the clutch was good, and there had to be about 3 or 4 lbs of "fluff" lining the bell housing, clutch and pressure plate!

That stuff was harder to clean up than the grease!

And it gets worse , i bought a very clean flathead ( paid too much for it based on dry and clean ) was running when pulled etc. Was under a friends workbench.
Took it home removed a head and it was a major rebuild for sure . The mice had peed all over and the urine had eaten the valve stems , cylinder walls etc. Potent pee for sure ...
learned a lesson there for sure ...........if you see mice residue beware.......

Pissed on it? I guess those mice just voted their opinion in the ongoing SBC-Flathead dialog.

No mouse with a bit of since would be caught dead in a SBC...

I just stripped one of those mice hotels. I had to cut every bit of the valve train out with a torch. Took 3hr's remove the valve train. Got to love it. Walt
