Default Replacement mounting/firewall nut for cast iron sediment bulb

Took my cast sediment bulb off to clean and paint and lost the mounting nut and washer. Bought one from Brattons but they called and said they’re out. No one else seems to have one. Anyone have any advise on sizing or source so I can get it back in the car for now?

I would try a hardware store or industrial supply. You are looking for
a 3/4-16 hex jam nut.

the thread on this nut was 3/4-16, but it was also very wide and thick. Bratton's had to have a machine shop make them special for them. But as with a lot of things that shop closed, and the quotes from new shops that we are receiving right now on part prices or quantities are not pretty.

Oh I get it. Was hoping to get it from Bratton's of course. Having spent most of my life in heavy metal fab and now owning a business that is a mix of retail, importing, contract fabrication, wholesale warehousing and manufacturing I totally understand the challenges. Thank you!

McMaster-Carr has 3/4-16 hex nuts by 1" thick with 1-1/8" wrench flats for $10.35 for 10 pieces.

I appreciate it - I’m visiting a forum member and guru tomorrow and hoping maybe he has one on hand. If not I may take you up on it! Thank you!

I checked Berts. Didn’t see them online. I should have called. I’m more of a “phone as a last resort” kind of guy.

Well it was bugging me that I couldn’t find it as I remember taking it off and it could only be in a couple of places. So I once again pulled everything apart. To no avail.

Then I thought, “I didn’t throw them in the rust remover solution and leave them in there did I?”

Bingo

So thank you everyone and for future reference for anyone looking for one...

Indeed it’s 1-1/8 across the flats. 3/4 coarse pitch (16?) thread. One side flat and one chamfered. Thickness is 0.317 on mine.

Lock washer is a simple split lock washer. 3/4 ID, 1-1/8” OD and 1/16” thick.
