Watched the episode yesterday, a lot of work to get the vehicles and parts out. Some will probably be for sale on facebook marketplace and maybe in Hershey as well. The five window seems the most complete and with a complete history with only 2 owners!

I saw these cars earlier this month before they were extricated from their hiding places (no easy task, for sure). The two coupes and the phaeton are the pick of the lot. The roadster is but a notch above poor despite what the photo would lead you to believe.

Yes the 34 5W is in great nick probably my pick. The Argi phaeton would be super cool down here in NZ being right hook.

Karl even here in the states finds like this are few & far between.
You are also very fortunate down in NZ as I doubt there is a collection anywhere in the world like Chris Leigh’s.

You’d be surprised at what’s out there. I own a garage door company and the things I see on my travels. Just ran across a 63 split window Vette. Turned sideways and pushed against the back wall. Used as a shelf currently with boxes stacked on it. He’s saving it to restore with his grandson.

Wow how cool is that!! Thanks for posting!!

Like a Golden Retriever,,,, WHO doesn't love a '34 Ford

I love the five window coupe James Cagney drives around in in the movie Great Guy where he works for the Dept. of Weights and Measures!!

I hope they are restored and not hacked up into street rods. That is why God made fiberglass...

The seller states the roadster came from a doctor in Argentina that had many old fords . That would be Mario V Kaplan MD if memory serves me correctly .
Remember many ads by him in hemmings .

Also remember Doug Mosch of Marshall MN bought several cars from him and was REALLY PISSED at the condition .
DavidG's comment on the roadsters condition brought that memory back .
When Doug sold them the ad read " NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART " .

All that said - neat score !!!!

Last edited by David J; 07-26-2021 at 09:28 PM. Reason: correct spelling on Dougs name .

Iron Trap Garage is apparently active on Instagram. You might have to poke around maybe irontrapparts or something like that. They're about hunting parts & cars, picking the stuff they love, and moving along the rest to others who covet them, from what I gather. Vintage customized stuff is what really rings their bell.

They've done a fun challenge the last couple of years where they start with a twenty spot, and leverage that for a full year, to get something they want but can't afford. It's all documented on their YouTube channel.

So the short answer about the signs, Yes very likely they will be available, and may even have been gone by the time the video posted.

Last thought, they recently posted a video about Ardun heads that was AMAZING! Thanks to one of our great members and thanks to Iron Trap for that one!

Jeff,

I understand that the signs and the roadster are long gone.

As for the good doctor, Mario Kaplan, he was somewhat infamous in the day. Having extricated fifteen or so open '32-'37s from Argentina back in the last century, needless to say he was not the 'picker' that I used.
