1928 cab back window with Ford script above it?
A friend of mine found one of those rare 1928 cab back panels with the ford script above it. I need some help indentifying it though. rather than having the window up high, it has a rather large window about double the normal size. this looks factory as it has all the garnishes and correct beads and ribs, around it. Does anyone know anything about this rare bird haha? thanks david [email protected]

Re: 1928 cab back window with Ford script above it?
my first guess is someone cut the hole bigger.... the bolt holes arent even all the way around when im sure a factory job they would be...nor would the square nut interfere with the ford logo. Tts a really small window normally and theres a reason they moved it down after the early 28's so my guess someone made it bigger...
Got any inside pics?

Re: 1928 cab back window with Ford script above it?
1928 Ford Model AA telephone truck looks like it has a large rear window. Does anybody have one of these or pictures of the cab?
My first thought was a Car Hauler as well, but I can only find pictures of them with small windows. Maybe a Jail or Prisoner Hauler as well? Thanks - Tim |

Re: 1928 cab back window with Ford script above it?
No it's pressed and rolled and one solid rolled or stamped piece. IT's too nice to be a home cut job. The flanging is really nice with square corners you only get when a piece is stamped. Also there's a lack of hammer marks if it was done as a one off for the glass channel. I'll get a few more pictures. We may never know the real story. But it'd be nice to figure it out. Certainly not a mass production thing. Maybe a specialty order for a one off client. - Tim |

Re: 1928 cab back window with Ford script above it?
When I was rebuilding the '29 cab in my avatar with 6-1/2" stretched corners, I used new sheet metal for the upper rear panel. I debated as to whether to cut out a larger rear window as the way the panel was formed, it would have looked "factory". Looked at Jeep CJ windshield rubber to fit the larger glass. Full disclosure: the top was fitted with white oak custom bows...metal rods were used to align the body.

It is an early 1928 Aa cab that has had a larger window hole cut in right at the original bead molding.
