Brake system rebuild
I have had my 50 Coupe since 1978. Always purged the fluid every two years with new. Have never had a braking problem 'til last year. This year is the time I re-build the entire system. I never realized the cost involved including shipping:
4 brake drums and misc. from Joblot= 428.00(this include $54 shipping) Master cylinder and misc form Mac's= 200.00(this includes $29.22 shipping) Brake shoes and misc. from Autozone= 55.00 Misc. from NAPA = 30.00 Brake line kit = 59.00 Total of 772.00 Now it all needs to be installed. Luckily one of the guys in my car club has a lift! |

Re: Brake system rebuild
Hey Toby, $772 is pretty good. On the 39 I installed a front disc kit and bendix style rear drum's, with the adapter for the pedal and new master cylinder, ect. my parts were almost twice that. But she'll stop on a dime
Have fun, take your time and enjoy some O&H kringle why you do it. My father was from Racine and I'm addicted to the stuff |

Sadly, the days of this being a cheap hobby are long gone. Last edited by 19Fordy; 04-16-2013 at 07:21 PM. |
