Interesting stuff.
What manufacturer, Schuter?

If memory serves me well..... yes. I used to be in a rod club in the 60s with Frank's son Rod Shuter. He was one of the very first people in NZ to paint a car in metalflake. Then he built a wicked 59 Ford called StreetCleaner, but I sure wish I'd got to know Frank. I seem to remember Rod saying his old man had a stroke.

Yes I remember seeing the Street Cleaner in Autorama was really cool in the day.
The Shuter looked like a copy of the Edelbrock Twin Super to me.
Who owned the special?

If you knew, and understood Barney Navarro, you would know why his manifolds preformed as they did. Everyone has their favorite camshaft or manifolds, but the facts are the facts.

I ;oke the old Offy superdual and used them on the hydro and Bivele engines. I bores them out for 2GC carbs. They have considerably more meat on them. Also you can use the late Holley 2100 (54/6) Pickup carb
x2 JWL has done a lot testing and very good info with plenty of dyno engine pulls with multiple types of intakes. A very good read.....I have a copy and higly recommended!

Neil Stuart. He also had a Lotus single seater. He lived in Sth Brighton which was very sparsely populated in those days. He used to use the road he lived on as a test track.
The flathead eventually got replaced by a Jag.

He is was a true pioneer of the speed performance industry. There is a great book called Merchants of Speed that explains a lot.

I would be curious to know what size jets were used on the 97's.

So I imagine an Eddie Meyer hirise twin with the heat riser would perform a bit like the thickstun?

Does anybody make a wedge shaped apacer to mount on the 49-53 4b intakes that will level the carb for early flathead use. All the late manifolds I have seen have the carb mtg surface at a slant.

I found the article very interesting...if fact I was in the middle of swappig a tall Thickstun PM-7 to an original Edelbrock slingshot when I first rear it late last year. I got the car back on the road but have not had it out enough to see if I notice any difference
