Hutchins Horns brought back?
I see an advertisement from "Hutchsco" in the classifieds with horns available at $189. Interesting pix and its their first post.
Anyone know anything more? Joe K

Re: Hutchins Horns brought back?
I've communicated with this vendor a few times trying to get some details about the wiring of the Hutchins horn. If you look for posts on "Hutchins" you will find what he has shared with me. I believe this was a well made product for the price of $12 to $15 at that time, surely better than the plastic junk they try to sell today as an ahooga horn. He also is on ebay selling these horns. Reading his ebay ad, it sounds like he spends a lot of time and effort on each horn. Look for one at the flea market (make sure it works if possible) and clean it up yourself. You will save $$$.

Re: Hutchins Horns brought back?
I continue to be amazed at the costs of used (Spartan) and repop horns! Every year at Hershey there are always a lot of vendors with a few of these horns and always at or near $180. Yet I never see a car without them because of a supposed shortage! I can buy a used starter or generator for $25 -40 Bucks, but horns cost roughly $200 ????? Especially when you consider the horn is of much cheaper construction than the starter and it doesn't have a Bendix. How come???? There's no shortage of horns. Everybody has 2 or 3 of them. What is holding the price up there?

Re: Hutchins Horns brought back?
The price of the horns always had me wondering also. About 20 years ago the guy in front of me grabbed a nice original horn for $10. I haven't been that lucky but have found a few for under $100.
I was able to sell the Hutchins on my 29 Tudor and buy an original horn with a few dollars left over. |

Re: Hutchins Horns brought back?
I bought one of the new horns from A&L. It is truly a work of art in every respect, and sounds beautiful. Not cheap, but then what is anymore?

Re: Hutchins Horns brought back?
For a long time it was thought that the Hutchins horn was a throw away horn. There was a thread here not long ago by Leo. This guy has repair parts and can repair these horns.
While not "authentic" they do sound correct.
