Default '32 front wheel seals - watcha use?

Is there anything more modern that you guys are using for the front wheel seals? Is there a thin rubber lipped seal that will fit in there?

And another question: Are the big spindle nuts thicker on a '32 than a '48? I stole some bearings, washers, and nuts from a '48 to mock up this '32, and the nuts don't reach all the way out to the cotter pin hole in the end of the spindle.

Spindle nuts for 28-35 are much thicker than later ones.
