Vermin has a factory rumble, wish it were a TRUNK. Would I change it, HEAVENS NO!
It's a trying job & I hear that many changeover parts fit POORLY!
I once changed a '36 Ford Coupe to a rumble, it wuz a NIGHTMARE!!! At that time, the ONLY part available was the hinge arm on the lid, I had to make up everything else!!

Question on rumble seat closing by its self. All of our Model A's have had rumble seats. Never had a problem. Kids love them, and adults fit. I do agree with the comment on roadsters and sport coupes. It's nice to be able to talk back and forth. My experience would say car is worth more with rumble seat.

I did think about it, and I explained why I made the conversion back to a trunk. Aggravating buttinski comments like yours, that contribute nothing to the furtherance of knowledge about the Model A, or anything of value to the conversation, are why I quit coming to the Barn on a regular basis.

Anyone removing their ORIGINAL trunk assembly to assemble a REPRO Rumble seat...Please send me your ORIGINAL parts of the trunk for which you will never use again.

Thank you so kindly!

We converted our trunk to a rumble on my wife's grandfather's 29 coupe (now in our possession) for our wedding 25 years ago. It made some great memories. My wife and I fit back there and she was in a wedding dress! I admit that I do not like taking long drives with anyone back there, but for a parade or a short trip to the ice cream shop - being extra careful, it is just fine. It was long ago and I don't recall all the steps to do it, but we got all the parts from Gaslight in Ohio. Took some doing, but we got er done. I am certain it didn't cost $1500 - we didn't have that kind of money back then.....

I converted the trunk in my 1930 Coupe to a rumble seat by going to a junkyard and buying a rumble seat lid, cushions, hinges and curved inner panel.

The cost ? $4.00.

The year ? 1941

Enough said !

It has never closed while braking. and a lady with a prothesis for one leg was able to enter and exit without assistance. She had always wanted a ride in a rumble seat and I was glad to be able to fulfill her wish. Her husbands Model A is actually an AA dump truck.
