Default First (legal) drive!

Well one of the things about being born on the fourth of July is that it's really cool you guys throw me a big party every year. Sorry I haven't been able to make an appearance in person yet.

However this year I was able to take a little bit of America to the streets as I took the pickup for it's first drive since being roadworthy.

As far as shakedown runs go it was pretty successful. I've found a few things to adjust and tinker with, but the most important thing is I got home again without having to use one tool that I filled the cab with! Just in case of course.

So about 28 years after seeing my first 40 pickup I finally got to cruise in my own. Once all the wrinkles are ironed out it'll be hard to keep me off the street.

Thanks all, I'm still wearing a pretty big grin.

Last time it went through Ashvegas it was on the back of a truck heading south. A trip up the West Coast and down the centre is on the list at some stage in the future.

Haa Haa awesome , that 36 in my avatar is from Ashburton . I brought it from original owner in 1973 , its still pretty much unrestored & just gave her what ever she needed to keep her running .We drive her all over here in the southern US

That's one well travelled Ford! You must have seen some sights together over the past 40 years! Would be nice to think We'll get the same sort of run out of our truck, although probably without the international travel.

Haha thanks Gordon. It's mainly thanks to a few good blokes like yourself that I'm as far along as I am. There's no substitute for experience and for a bit of a noob like myself I've needed and really appreciated all the tips, advice and suggestions I've had along the way.

The hubcaps will go on once I'm happy with everything and the wheels on this side get balanced (I wasn't 100% sure these tyres would work so had a couple fitted in order to check them).

Besides, now I've got the truck running the cops can try and catch me but they'll never take me alive!
