Default Floor Board Screw Question

I need to chase the threads for my floorboard screws are the screws 12-24? seems to be tight????

Shoot a bit of brake cleaner into each hole and then a bit of engine oil and then chase the holes. They are most likely full of rust and dirt...a bit cleaned out and they will chase just fine. Also open the holes in the floor boards with a 5/16 drill and the floor boards will go back in much easier...Ernie
