Default replacing header bracket

After a couple years of recovery from injuries/surgery, and other things that kept me away from working on the Model A, Im getting ready to start replacing the wood. Another problem I have is that the header bracket on the drivers side is broken at the joint for the windshield pillar. I almost have the rivets ready to drive out, but do I just bolt the new or repaired bracket back on? Or put old rivets back in and weld the bottom to the channel? How has others fixed this problem? Thanks.

Not familiar with the 2 door. Maybe a picture would help. I would repair same as the other side. Is the Roof off?
