Default Let's talk Wood and 1932 ford woodie station wagon

I was wondering if you know what is the cowl used on a woodie wagon . Is the cowl only for the 32 wagon or was it just a commercial cowl application . Also how do you tell it is the correct woody cowl. Also any sources for the wagon as far as parts and details.
Thank you

The cowl is not unique to the station wagon as it was used for the panel delivery and closed cab (pickup and large truck.

There are many woody only parts and hard to find to hold the wood together and there are many shops to make you a set of wood but be prepared to spend $$,$$$.

With respect, there are four different species of wood in a '32 station wagon. While prominently maple, much of the floor is oak, the paneling is birch, and the roof slats basswood.

David I have a question. Often Station Wagons are seen with a visor, while I don’t recall if I have seen a restored one that way many modified ones have a visor that was likely not removed from a pickup cowl. Is it true that they were only built without the visor?

A visor is an integral part of the '32 closed cab roof panel as shown in the photos below. The station wagon had its own unique cover for the header wood which does not extend far enough forward to serve as a visor.

vulture,
My wagon is still in pieces, If you or Jeff want some measurements, I can get you some. I can also give you pictures of all the woodie specific parts if they are not included in Dave's book.
Jeff, I have been meaning to ask you if you want to come out any take any measurements while the wagon is apart.

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!
