1937 , it always seems odd how they didn’t swing the numbers around to get the V8 in the correct orientation.

Re: Can someone identifying a Radio for me??
There were two different models of the Philco radios used in 1937 passenger cars, a F-1440 and a F-1442. You can take the lid off to see which one you have. I think the F-1440 needed an external transformer in the speaker circuit and the F-1442 had that built into the box. I see a lot of them on E-bay between $100-200, I don’t know if any ever sell for that.
Correction: the transformer used with the F-1440 radio is for the antenna, not the speaker (see post #4). Last edited by Zeke3; 03-12-2023 at 03:53 PM. Reason: Add correction |

Re: Can someone identifying a Radio for me??
There are a couple of transformer things alongside the tubes that have some fine windings in them that take an old time radio person to fix. Of the two radios, early ones had a antenna transformer that mounted under the antenna, later versions did not need that and were generally good radios to put in most anything 6v. Both have vibrators which most folks have changed to a solid state thing, uses a lot less elec. As usual they are worth what someone is willing to pay for them and 37 owners would want them the most. Unknown condition without visible damage 150 up. Lots of butchers use the early model heads with modern radios.
