Default Hood Hinge Retainer Kit Install

I was wondering where the cork goes on this kit??

Anyone know?

Is it for a seal? or to keep the nuts from rattling ect??

Thanks!

I welded one into my cowl a few weeks ago. If I recall correctly the cork/ cardboard is just to hold the nut and bolt assembly in place until it is welded.

My understanding is that the cork prevents rattling and holds the nuts in position. As you can see, the mounting bracket is slotted allowing the nuts a little lateral sliding room for adjustment. I would mount the cork up against the underside of the cowl with the nuts resting in the retainer tray below the cork. I believe the nuts and screws are 12-24.
