Seat belt in a 1930 CCPU
Guys, there has been a bit said recently about seat belts in Model As and I have contributed what I did in my '28 and '29 cars. I also have a 1930 CCPU and want to fit seat belts to it. I think a lap belt will do for the passenger but because of the steering column, I want better for the driver. As far as I can see, a lap-sash arrangement would be the most realistic option but the attachment for the top end of the sash is a problem as the pillar is wood. I'm looking for ideas please.
My first thought is to put a steel upright behind the wooden B pillar and support the top end of it by running a horizontal steel piece over the door opening and attaching to the top of the A pillar. Those pieces would be hollow rectangular tubing with at least 3mm walls. (1/8 inch). To attach the upright at the bottom end, I'm looking at bolting a solid piece of angle iron across the floor behind the seat and fixing to that. The lap belts would also attach to it. What comments and/or improvements do you have?

April 2007 Street Rodder Magazine has an article on installing angle iron in the door pillar and three point belts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Street-Rodde...8AAOSw5ZBWKsjR

Thanks Bob. At $37 to get it here, that might be a bit pricey. I like the angle iron idea though. HHMMMMM

Here's one in Australia that didn't sell, maybe he still has it.
