Default OEM Sound deadening and underlayment material

Where can I find or what can I use as the original black fiber Henry Ford used to use? I have an original 1939 Standard coupe, I am replacing the clutch and rebuilding the transmission. When I pulled out the floor mat today the material under it was trash. Does anyone sell this material ?

Don't know for sure but it always reminds me of roofing tar. The kind you buy in the gallon can.

I made that mistake once, some of the roofing tars hold water and will rust out any metal. Be careful what you use.

looks to me like heavy roofing felt with a pattern pressed in-look for it at a commercial roofing supply company. maybe even two layers of it

Thank you guys for the suggestions, I was thinking roofing tar paper, but was hoping for the "Real McCoy". I will let you know how I make out.

Drake sells the original style with waffle pattern in two thicknesses. Is there another source for the same material?
