1939 60 HP Radiator Hoses
Well hear I go again, does anyone have a number for a lower hose that will fit my 39 60 HP car. I have tried NAPA hoses, and there one size fits all kinks and won't let enough water thru. I have a BMW hose that fits the upper hose. I guess I will go to their warehouse and start measuring hoses until I find the right one. Any help would be much appreciated!

Kenny, check with Joe Soredillo to find out what he did, or where he found replacement hoses for his 37 Ford fordor slantback sedan, with 60hp engine, a few years ago.
As another possibility, I would suggest taking your old hose to some of the well known automotive parts supply stores located near you, and ask them if you could look through their existing new hose inventory for something exactly like, or maybe close enough, to the configuration you need. I think you will find something that will work well and get you back in the drivers seat of that nice '39. ☺

Re: 1939 60 HP Radiator Hoses
For what it is worth to anyone looking for lower radiator hoses for a 1939 Standard 60 HP, I found NAPA #8484 hoses, I cut the 90 degree bend to attach to the block, and cut the other end to fit to the bottom radiator outlet. It is working for me, and maybe it will save some body a lot of leg work looking for hoses.

Re: 1939 60 HP Radiator Hoses
I went looking for a hose to fit a gas to diesel conversion on a Benz G-wagon, they said to look in aisle 7, 40 foot long aisle of numbered boxes, 5 shelves high----walking down the aisle I took out a couple of boxes, thoughts of spending all day pulling boxes and looking inside-----looking down the aisle there was one hose hanging out of a box, the only hose in sight---miracle of miracles that hose was a perfect fit
i remember taking NOS 60hp lower hoses that were rock hard, cooking them in steaming water to get them on---there may still be some in my brothers back garage |

Re: 1939 60 HP Radiator Hoses
I ran across your post while researching something.
We have looked high and low for a correct lower radiator hose for a 60HP flathead and finally had some made. There was a minimum quantity necessary, so the remainder we have for sale. They are $44 per set plus $8 postage in the US. They fit perfectly. In fact, ask Joe Sordillo as he bought a set from us at Chantilly a couple of weeks ago at the Eastern National meet. There was also a small write up about these hoses in the V8 Times recently. We are on facebook.com/johnnysretroparts and you can order there if you wish. Good luck. |
