Default Found a junkyard hiding in plain sight.........

I was returning from North Carolina the other day on Rt. 29 and happened by this junkyard right along the highway. I stopped and took these photos with my phone so they are not very good but it shows what is still out there.

Love the grill bar panel, reminds me of my 45 pickup.
I'd drag it home for a project.

Between your post and that of Ken Crans yesterday, looks like there are some wonderful old panels waiting to be restored!

I need to make a trip back over there as there were some more "finds" down over the hill that I didn't have time to explore. I'll take a better camera with me, too.

Is that located between Apex and Concord by chance ? If so, it has been thinned down a lot . Also, on that road there was another one which has been liquidated which I think had a Mustang mounted on a tall pole out by the highway.

Looks like some neat old construction equipment too. I'm into both that and 39 Ford era trucks.. We go down to Berryville VA a few times a year from CT. Looks like it's about a couple of hrs from Berryville. Might make a nice day trip. Pictures please! ML

I got a few more photos of those trucks I found the other day. They seem to have generated some interest so I'll post them.

Thanks for posting those Ted, the panels bring back memories when I was a kid in Woodbridge.

When we would ride out behind our house to get on the power line trails there was this very old farm and house through the woods that had several panels and older cars scattered about, we did not get too close with the fear of being shot with rock salt

The 37 would be a 1 1/2 ton and the jailbar panel is a tonner. The sheet metal on the tonner is way better than the one I have sunk a bunch of time into. You never see rear doors or rear fenders that nice. They were delivery vehicles and the vision to the rear is really bad. The pass side rear fender is almost always trashed. Mine certainly is.

That jailbar looks better than my 40 tonner did when I brought it home
