Re: my 31 delux del
Looks like a project but a good car to have.
I apologize about the spam comment there have been several on this site over the years. Is this car in the rapid city area? There was on of these around hill city 30 years ago that an older gentleman had but his was green and this doesn't look like yours ever was. |

Don't look to bad. If at any point you decide to restore it take care when removing the wood. Other than the header and roof cross bows there is not much that interchanges with other Model A body styles. Classic wood in NC makes the kit for the 30-31 130-B deluxe delivery that from most reports is pretty decent although many have chosen to make their own wood using the original pieces for patterns. What a great car with all the family history.
I always liked this body style. Keep us posted as you progress. Chris W. |

Re: my 31 delux del
Body first
It will motivate you to then do the chassis And that's the most critical .....many can restore a chassis;!few the body and fenders IMHO |

Get it running so that you can move it around and that will keep you interested. If you need any small parts I have spare, I will forward them to you for free, you pay shipping. Welcome to the Barn. Wayne

Re: my 31 delux del
You will need to make sure the frame is straight before you start the body work. You either pull the body and check it or find another frame make sure it is straight and build the body on it. Once you have all the wood work and body work about done restore the chassis paint the bottom of the body mount it, get the sheet metal to fit finish the body work and paint and like magic your done. Also four or five years and your retirement have been left behind but hey it's all good fun and still cheaper than race cars

Re: my 31 delux del
I agree with above comments. Restore the body first on the good frame and then the running gear. I am fitting all the wood and body panels on my 400A. I made wood shims to avoid the frame rivets. Jim

Re: my 31 delux del
I briefly drove my 29 around town before dissassembly. I have been restoring subassemblies for the chassis but for the time being most work on it has stopped. Working on the wood when finances and patterns allow. There is a delivery sedan social group here on Fordbarn. Not near as active as I hoped it would be when I started it. Here is the link anyway. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/group.php?groupid=7
