What would be a good , fair price to expect to pay for a pair of solid, not perfect , 31 coupe rear fenders ? Thanks

Your question has several dependencies. If the fenders are solid but not perfect, who is doing the repair work?

A brand new rear fender (-which are decent but not exacting) will set you back about $450.00 per fender by the time you get it to your garage. You will need to drill mounting holes and elongate them for the studs. The running board bolt holes will need to be drilled. Also, the tail light bracket mounting bolt holes and wire hole will need to be drilled also. The fender bracket reinforcement tab will need to be installed too.

So all totaled up, you must decide how much time you will have in either direction. IMO, a NOS rear fender should be around $800.00 - 1,000.00 each. Because of the work required for a new fender, I am guessing solid set of rear fenders not requiring metalwork (patch panels) should be worth the same amount as a repro fender at minimum. A good craftsman can make some mods to a repro fender and it will be equal to a NOS. If you are paying someone for that service including repairing the fender, you will likely have the same amount as a NOS.

Any fenders with bead repair, not matter how nice, should be considered suspect until test fitted on a car. As I have learned the hard way there are many ways that fenders could be messed up. Any fender you suspect has been worked expect to spend hours correcting that work unless you see it fitted up to a body.

all good advice. avoid broken beaded fenders unless you have all the time in the world
and enjoy torturing yourself.

It all depends on your perspective, I bought a pair of perfect coupe rear fenders, never been on a car..40 bucks a piece.. fiberglass.. they fit good too matches the inner fender well arc perfectly. If you are building a driver I highly recommend them.
