what is the differance between 37-41 41-48 spindles can 41-48 be used on a model a axle to mount hydl brakes

Later model spindles have larger (taller) bushings along with a different appearance. They will fit a Model A axle.

As rich b said, yes they can be used on a Model A axle, but be advised that the ‘37-‘41’s (also known as round backs) use a king pin 5 1/2” long and the ‘42-‘48 spindles (square back) take a 6” long k/p. You will want the correct k/p set for the spindles you choose.

Here's a picture I've posted a couple of times before that shows the differences that others have mentioned. Basically the 1942-48 version are beefier than the 1937-41 but otherwise interchangeable.

Would it be correct to assume the later ones wear more slowly due to the longer bushes? (Everything else being equal). Probably made longer to compensate for the vehicles getting heavier??? |
