Default Help Spindle Bolt

The king pin / Spindle bolt seems to be stuck or hanging up . The locking pin is out and brake actuating assembly is out and the spindle is loose and moves around a little . Do I drive it out ? I been Tapping with a drift and have moved the king pin upward slightly but seems to be stuck .

Does the spindle bolt revolve in the bushings? does it revolve in the axle? Why is it being removed?

A big drift is better than a small one, Krol oil is the best to lube things. Bob

As the earlier poster said, spraying lube in there to free it up is good, but then try to get it to rotate either back and forth or around and pull up as you do so.

If your axle was out of your car I would say take it to a press and push it out. In the car I would try and use a bottle jack and push it out. If you raise the car and not push out, I would then use sum heat!

No the only movement is up or down about a 1/16" . While refurbishing the brakes I decided to check the spindle bolts and replace any worn parts . Seems I found a problem .

If it moves up and down a little, squirt it w/a good penetrating oil or diesel fuel, work it up and down, up and down and repeat and repeat, the more you work at it, the more it will move.

After a over night soak with PB Blaster I used a large pipe wrench and a single jack . I can knock it right or left an inch or so . I'm unable to use a cheater because the frame is resting on axle stands . So a little more PB blaster and it looks like I need to order all new parts by the time I beat this frozen part out .

Success the spindle bolt is out . What I found it was stuck in the axle rust / dirt / sand ? After cleaning and wire wheel plus sanding It still won't fit back into the axle Over size maybe ? I tried another used kingpin and it slide right in but started to stick . So I need to clean the axle hole to see if there's a burr . The spindle bolt I removed had a R S in the grease groove for right side ? no other marks . I was able to drive it up and down and twisting back and forth to loosen while flooding with PB Blaster . Now for the other side thanks everyone .

Sometimes the bushing will wear a small step groove into the spindle bolt and it will catch on this as you are trying to drive it out.

That's what I figured had happened and I wonder if forcing it out left a few burrs so it won't go back in?

Tom the king pin is smooth and fits the spindle assembly the bushing don't have any burrs but I'm sure there worn . The spindle bolt just don't fit the axle hole with out pounding it in . Another pin from the parts pile fits . Also the bearing was toast .
