Default 1932 Ford Hood Alignment

For both sides of the top of the hood for a 1932 Ford passenger car to sit on the same plane and be properly aligned, does the channel for the center strip need to be squared (1st picture) or can it be rounded (2nd picture)?

Neither look to be in good original condition, but of the two, that in the second photo appears to be worn the least.
