Default Re: 46 ford coil purchase

Koates, ignition is original. Had to troubleshoot ignition to find that I had bad resistor. Much easier to lift hood and put meter on coil vs crawling under dash messing with resistor. By looking at values I know I have a bad resistor. Am puzzled as to why a 40ohm resistor is listed as replacement for original resistor,no way you get the 3.5V at coil with 40 ohm resistor if original was .5.
Only running 1 carb, I should have explained better. I tried 2 different carbs, both rebuilt by Charlie on Fordbarn ,no change in performance. Carbs prob not problem, the fact voltage is too low to ignite the fuel is problem. Also,#5 cylinder had valve hanging up. Did compression test this AM, all cylinders close to 90lbs EXCEPT #5. It was zero. Look in #5 plug hole and could s ee it was open all time. Its closed now. SO, as soon as I get resistor Im on the road. Thanks for your concern though
