Default Silly brake pedal question. Maybe?

On my 39 Ford Coupe I’m trying to lengthen the brake pedal pad. Does anyone know the thread of the pad and pedal. A 9/16 NF nut fits the pedal (loosely) and tightens, but a 9/16 NF bolt will not thread into the pedal assembly.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Tom

Are bolt threads buggered up on the end?

Seems like I have read in the past that those are actually NPT (Pipe Thread)....I'd guess 1/4" pipe. DD

Yes, it is a 1/4 in. pipe thread. I found that out after first assuming it was a standard thread. Here's a photo of a piece I made to offset the clutch pedal. It also raised the height. Similar idea will work for you. Use washers as needed.

OR

Use something like this:

Here's an interesting thread about history of brake/clutch pedal design. Also verifies 1/4 in. pipe thread use.

Thanks guys. Who would have thunk it that they would use pipe thread? Yep, it is.

Pipe threads are tapered which makes it mush harder if not impossible to loosen under foot. You would never want the pedal to come loose while driving or shifting.
