"chrome plating"
I read somewhere that small parts like handles can be dipped in either Al. beer cans or "tin foil" melted to 500 degrees and get he same effect as chrome plating. Any one else heard of this or tried it?

Re: "chrome plating"
There are processes that aluminum foil will remove rust from chrome. See YouTube
But I’d be most skeptical of what you describe above!! Last edited by Oldbluoval; 08-28-2021 at 08:19 AM. |

Re: "chrome plating"
A used car lot I worked for had a jar of mercury , worn spots on chrome got mercury rubbed on the area--- looked pretty good for a month or so

Re: "chrome plating"
no cheap way to chrome plate anything.
if you want to save money, sell your old parts and buy repros, as in bumpers for example. they wont win a national show- but will look good locally and are far cheaper then getting plated properly. |
