Default Strange shackle stud size nut

Using a rear end of unknown origin for a project. The shackle studs threads are 9/16" -18. Very hard to find. Anyone have some spare castle nuts that size they would like to part with. Thank you Fordbarners.

As prior folks have commented, they are available.
I will side with you on 9/16. It is the most difficult
fastener size to find retail.

Find a shop that rebuilds truck springs. You might indicate what part of the country you live, it might lead to offers of help.

9/16" for the shackle pins? No way. 3/8" all day, every day.

He means the U bolts for the spring plate.

How the heck did you figure that?
You're good I tell ya... you're good.

I never would have jumped from "shackle studs" to U-bolts.

The AN (Army Navy Spec) designation for a 9/16" X 18 tpi bolt is AN9. AN310-9 castellated nuts are available for this size but are not likely all that common in use any more. A lot of that large stuff would date back to WWII usage on large aircraft.

It must be a big rear axle!

Thanks for the compliment. When he mentioned 9/16 X18 to me it had to be the U bolts.I reacted to quickly.I should have asked first if he meant the U bolts.

BTW Kube,Read about you in the July-Aug V8 Times.Congrats on being the '40 advisor!

And I had immediately thought he meant the distance between flats on the hex huts.

Thanks for the kind thought. I enjoy helping others when I am able. Somehow I found myself being "that old guy" that used to help me. How did that happen so quickly???
