A beautiful combination of skill, knowledge and dedication to keeping a small part of the world "flat.".

Walt,

What size are the valves. Looks like they almost touch in the center.

Saw an 8BA block with valves like that Sunday when I bought some parts from another Barner. The guy said the motor came from a drag car and put out 475 HP. Had some super special crank with 4 7/16 " throw and had been bored to the max.

Walt, That is sure a great piece of workmanship. Outstanding craftsmanship by the true Flathead King.

D.Jones. Those are Chevy valves, same head dia. 1-1/2in as the Ford. They just look close in the pic. Walt

OOOOOOOH no. I'm going to run out in the shop and check it. LOL If you go back a few weeks you'll find a long thread on this same subject. You can see that plate I made for the back of the block and the stand bolts to the plate. BUT, I've built 100's of flatheads and never used a plate until about 10yr's ago. Accually how many flatheads have you seen with broken bellhousings. I saw a pic of one once and if the trough be known, chances are the bolt weren't long enough or bolted up tight. I don't want to tell anybody how to mount there engine. Walt

Walt beautiful work. I'm curious how do you arrive at 276 Cu.In? I assume you use a 4" crank. What is the bore size? This is referring to an 8 BA block.

Thank you!

3-5/16 bore 4in. stroke. I haven't got the formula handy but I think it figures 274 something but for some reason 276 stick in my mind. I guess it's been said to many times. Call me a lier over 2ci LOL Walt
