Default Hard Starting 66:

I have a 1966 F-100 that cranks good cold, runs excellent while driving. After it is hot and is turned off about 20 minutes it is hard to start back.Is this a carb or ignition problem?I have replaced points and condensor, wires, rotary cap, distributor cap,and coil with no luck.It is a 352 engine.

i think the fuel in the carb is being boiled out into the manifold, causing two problems, one an empty carb, the other a flooded engine, take air cleaner off engine and run it that way on a drive, as soon as you turn engine off open hood and look down carb to see if any fuel is being boiled out of carb, aluminum manifolds are bad about transfering heat to carb, if you are using one put a phenolic block under carb, at least an inch thick, if thats not the problem go back and check coil, is it so hot you cant keep your hand on it?, if so suspect it , next replace condensor, new doesnt mean its good, same with coil, pull coil wire and have a friend turn engine over and see if you have a spark there. start with all the easy stuff first, start carb and then coil, condensor, points, this is a problem the flathead guys deal with all the time

Get a new starter. old one when hot is weak if by hard start you mean turns to slow to go.
