.
Lawson .....The easiest way to measure is the distance (On Center) between the spring perch holes (PERCH WIDTH), measured on the TOP side of the axle. DD |

Re: Front axle
Hey, thanks guys. I knew there was a chart SOMEWHERE, but couldn't find it. Now, is there really much demand for axles nowadays?

Re: Front axle
I would venture to say that axles in good usable condition are desirable and worth saving.
Folks who make dropped axles from OEM axles would probably buy it. I recall that about 20 years ago, I sold my used OEM 1940 Ford car axle for 100 dollars plus shipping. |

Speaking of charts, is there a similar chart for springs? I have two apparently NOS springs, one front and one rear. They apparently aren't 35-36 , as I thought they were.

There are just too many variables with springs besides the obvious number of leaves, lengths, widths and thicknesses. There is no way to know the type of steel, nor the temper or heat-treat that was applied. I've never ever seen any sort of relevant chart for such. DD |

When nothing else works out, you can always build a utility trailer.

Re: Front axle
Look at the top leaf of the springs to see if there is a part number stamped on them. I bought a NOS front spring and it has the assembly number stamped in the small top leaf.

Re: Front axle
Zeke makes a good point. I know my 1940 Ford springs had a number stamped on the top spring.

Re: Front axle
Couple spring charts I have digitally available. I could maybe scan more if you are looking for a specific year and I have it.
