Brake pedal bracket

I am converting a 1935 pickup to hydraulic brakes and have acquired the brake pedal and bracket from a 1941 model. While my X-member is flat in the mounting area the bracket only makes contact on three of the mounting points, so I am assuming that the bracket is bent. I know that cast iron does not bend agreeably so does anyone know if the bracket cast steel?

When grinding cast steel gives orange sparks, cast iron gives red sparks. My guess would be cast steel. Most of Henry's brackets were steel forgings or castings.

While pictures will help could you make a bushing or a bracket to catch that other bolt. JMO

Assuming you are running a stick be sure the clutch lever lines up where you need it to be. That is why people use the '39 pedals for many of the conversions.

The reason for using the 39 Ford brake and clutch pedal assembly besides the alignment of the clutch lever is the offset of the pedals through the floor will match the 35 and 36 Fords, while I believe you will need to include the cross shaft for the 41 Ford assembly as well as to relocate the pedals. I would check that fit, before making modifications for the 41 Ford pedal assembly.

You will have better results and a lot less work if you use a 39 pedal assembly.
Pedals line up with the floorboard holes and the clutch linkage is real close.
Once you get the template and drill the mounting bolt holes and enlarge the cross shaft hole it's pretty much just bolt it together. You might have to modify/ offset the clutch link .

The 41 assembly uses a completely different cross shaft and
a different throw out shaft in the transmission .
I just did my 36 about 6 months ago.

Thanks for the replies. Although I don't like the idea of putting a washer between the bracket and the frame to fill the space that is what I am probably going to do. I am installing an automatic so don't need the clutch pedal, which makes the 41 more attractive because the cross-shaft is pressed into the bracket rather than having the brake pedal on the clutch shaft. The brake pedal appears to line up in the same location as the 35, although I have not tried to fit the floorboard yet.

The 41 pedal should work for you but you may have to do a little surgery on the hole in the frame to get it to fit right.

Yes, a die grinder made quick work of opening the hole to fit along with a couple of new holes drilled. The brake pedal lines up nicely with the slot for it in the toe board as well.
