Default 60HP vs 85HP generator and coil

Do 60 & 85HP engines use the same generator and coil?

Lawson, the 1937 parts book shows the coils are the same between the two size engines and the generators are different part numbers.

Thanks Zeke3. Now I'm on the hunt for a 60HP generator. I would assume the fans are the same but maybe someone will chime in here on that query.

Interesting question. No expert here, but I would assume the basic electrics of the car having the 60 are the same as an 85, so why would Henry have a different part? I have some 60 stuff here, I'll check that the manifold mount is the same

On my coupe, the fan has an extension to bring up to the radiator cos the block is several inches shorter than an 85

I believe the gen housing is the same as a 85, the pulley is a smaller diameter and the 60 fan does have an extension on it. I am pretty sure I have a 85 gen on the 69 in my 39.

Jim. Glad you chimed in. Could you shoot me a picture of your generator, from the side, showing the fan hub, and give me the diameter of the pulley. I may have a pulley and fan amongst my stash that will work. If the housings are the same Jeff Smith (Putt's son) still has all of Putts stuff and hopefully I can get one locally and save shipping. I'll try to call you around Noon today, 12/1/21. You are on Eastern time, right?

Thanks duce lover. Is that, or another 60HP available so you can measure the length of the hub on that fan where I can see if the one I have is correct for the 60HP I have finally acquired? Thanks again Lawson

Thanks. I'll email the seller and ask him to measure the hub for me.
