The Ford Barn

Hello Everyone,

Sad to say but we’re a man down here on the FordBarn. My father, Henry Horrocks, who posted as henryat1140, has passed away. He had cancer in more than one place. Thankfully the ending wasn’t painful or drawn out.

Dad and I have shared the awesome fun of owning a ’36 Phaeton for the last few years, a car that I'm planning on keeping. We were fortunate to travel together to four V8 Club National Meets, two FordBarn events, four years of Hershey, and hours of having fun tinkering with the car. Our most recent project was doing part of the work involved with putting on a new top. I've driven the car three times this past week on Interstate and two-lane's, and I’m so pleased with the way it runs I’m afraid to think about it too much for fear of jinxing things. I just re-read our log of the things we've worked on and it really reminds me of how much fun and good father/son time we enjoyed because of our Ford.

I could go on, but I won't.

I just wanted to let his friends know, he didn't suffer a long time, and his family was with him.

One last thing, if you have someone you care about, let them know! If you are holding a grudge, get over it. All of us are only here temporarily.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Jeff. Like you, I have spent many years with my dad and his car (he bought in 1959 for $100). Still go with him regular.
And thanks for posting the pictures of you and your dad. It's nice to put a face to a barn handle once in a while, especially a nice face like yours.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Barb and I sure enjoyed our conversations with him on the Maine tour. He sure enjoyed his Ford. I know he will be looking down on you and smiling as you drive that Phaeton.

Losing another one of "the greatest generation" is always hard to hear about, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Judging by the photo's you posted, you and your Dad had a lot of quality times together. Those are the things you will remember for the rest of your days. I know my Dad is looking down and keeping an eye on me and feel certain yours will be doing the same for you. Take care- Dennis

think of the good times not the negatives,i lost my dad years ago and I have so many questions I wished I,d asked him , he was in the grenadier guards in Anzio and north Africa in ww2 and he never spoke about it,so many things I would like to know ....my hero and missed very much , cheers jim.
