There are a lot of factors that can change an installation/alteration like this. Type of belts is a big factor. Most of these cars have a solid enough floor that belt mounting links for lap belts can be installed to it with bolts and generally some form of metal reinforcements like large area washers. A shoulder strap installation would be another story. Not all cars have convenient structure to attach a shoulder strap to. Crash restrains have to be able to hold at least 1500 lbs or they wont take the G-forces in a crash.

Warren:
I too am installing 2 point seat belts in my 40. I found that when installing the floor mounts be sure to drill the holes in a location where you can reach the nut with a wrench. For instance, you don't want to drill into the frame, muffler or floor rib. However, I figured out a way so that one person can install the floor hardware without a helper. Also, found a vendor who sells long 3 inch wide 2 point seat belts instead of the regular narrow width size. If interested, PM me and I'll share it all with you and all Fordbarners. Do not buy 50 inch long belts as they are too short.

I always use the 74" belts. Different size people may ride in your car and you sometimes need the longer belt.

Most-importantly, DO NOT mount the seat belts to the frame. DD

That way you can't be accused of having 'body-mass discrimination'
