When I did the conversion for my dad on the coupe, we just ordered the brackets from Berts. The instructions on where and how were easy to follow. One step on the bumper bracket and one on the fender.

Thanks Tom, that gives me some good clues, Bert's pic was vague.
I am running twin tail lights on a 28, so may bolt the step to the large nut that holds the oval bumper clamp on, to get some clearance for people to step over light. Last edited by pooch; 06-26-2012 at 05:48 AM. |

Re: 28/29 and 30/31 rumble step plate placement
this is the most common 28-29 step plate
it was used on the fender and on the lower bracket i dont have a lower bracket ,but it mounts on the body, rather than the bumper bracket Brattons has the square step plates and gasket ,but no bracket Berts may have one mine has a hole in it which is wrong ,it had in integral bolt in the bottom there is an earlier one with Ford script on it look at the JS pg 15-9 that section really needs some photos to show the differences tom |

Here is a picture of the three styles for 28. The bracket shown is for LHD, the RHD is a mirror image, I have one somewhere but I cannot locate it to photograph.
