59AB head
Does anyone have a loose 59AB head they can measure with a caliper. From the top of the stud hole (where the nut sits) to the mating surface at the block. I want to install aluminum heads but if I have to replace studs I may rethink. I may open a can of worms.

Re: 59AB head
There are at least two, and maybe three different stud lengths. Long at the top, short at the bottom. The French motors have two bolt lengths, so two different lengths at least.
Some aftermarket heads have different stud lengths to stock. Mart. |

Re: 59AB head
Unless they are Ford aluminum heads( Canada made or Denver heads), you will have to replace the studs.
Which heads are you thinking of? |

Re: 59AB head
I will probably end up with Edelbrock or Offy. They are just shy of 2". I wouldn't mind finding a little more vintage though if they don't cost an arm and a leg.

They will cost an arm and a leg and most likely more! Also unless they were well taken care of corrosion well be an issue.

Re: 59AB head
Edelbrock and Offy heads use the long studs/bolts in all the holes, Navarro heads use stock length studs in the stock locations, at least the old ones did.
There are three different length studs/bolts on stock heads. Martin. |

Re: 59AB head
They have #s on them, I’d have to look again when I get home.

Re: 59AB head
Number was 281, not sure what that equates to.
