Thanks is advance!

You do realize that the wood beds are covered with a solid sheet of sheet metal and the wood can only be seen from underneath.

You can cover your factory steel bed with a sheet of plywood, routed to fit the steel rub strips and stained to your liking:

X2 for Northern Classic Trucks. They also make the best cab mounting wood I have seen as it's done just like the original.

If your '40 pickup bed is stock with a steel floor you might consider a "Showdeck" from Bruce Horkey in Minnesota. I have a stock steel-floored '34 but I wanted a REMOVEABLE wooden showdeck. Bruce Horkey supplied precisely crafted maple boards (my choice of wood) and all the hardware. The aluminum underframe rests on sponge rubber pads so there is no damage to the original painted steel floor. Of course, I brushed on 5 coats of spar varnish (also supplied by Horkey).

I like Horkey's products. They supplied the wood to redo the floor of my 39 panel delivery. They also sell stainless strips and will tap the holes in the stainless strips where you want them as well as sell end caps and the like. They sell a wide variety of woods from oak to exotics.
