Early Turbo Project
I had a few people asking for updates on my turbo project. Its going, but slow... My damn job got in the way..haha Anyways.. The headers are almost done, then I have to build the carb boxes, intake supply's, linkage, and exhaust dumps. They dont know it yet, but im gonna have H&H build a new block for me. I just dont have the time. Unless someone on the west coast has a fresh stroked block ready to go that they want to sell. Anyway, heres some pictures. Im using one of Kiwi's L100 cams as well

That will be awsome! I've got a single turbo sitting on the shelf, destined for a flathead someday! I'd like to hear yours run for sure !

you are no doubt planning a blow thrue system ?I was interested in doing so , but to run carbs I need to know how to switch fuel pressure on demand, what is the best way to do that by using an electric pump, is there some sort of switch gear to accomodate the changes, I also considered trying to set up port injection
with a turbo system. is there a ready made pressure change system available for carburetors? Fordestes. |

Fordestes... No I am going to put 97's on the turbo intakes with some small adapters, and the turbo outlets will go up directly into an Edelbrock Dual Manifold. My main issue is going to be oiling. Im hoping a high volume pump will work. They really wont make too much boost, so I dont blow the crank out of the bottom. This is just a fun project for me to see if I can do it.

Another problem will be, vaporized gas, under pressure, in the system. any spark and you might find the hood in another state,

a friend of mine has a twin turbo-ed flathead in a `34 coupe, the engine dyno - ed @ 350 rear wheel horsepower. cool car, it was on the cover of Rodders Journal a few months ago.

I've commented on here before but several years ago there was a turbo charged flathead, propane fueled 40 coupe running around our area. Ran really good. Haven't seen it lately.

I'd like to know more about the Besaise exhaust-turbo supercharger. Seen a bad pic of one on an Olds engine I think can't really see what's going on in the pic. This was around in 1950-51.
Wounder what happened to that system, turbocharger back then, who'd a thunk. Martin. |

I too would like to try a turbo,but on our dragster,my boy has just built a 6 cyl holden with home made manifolds etc with a garret turbo,he has a haltec engine management on it ,it does every thing ,fuel ign fuel pressure etc etc,
We always planned to build another eng for the dragster with the 4-71 on but I see how nice his 6 cyl goes and think the flathead would be a good project, but it would be expensive,Now to get my boy interested. Lawrie |

I have an F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost engine. I love that motor - diesel torque at diesel RPM numbers, on gasoline prices!
If a flathead motor could run like that it would be sweet indeed. |

Add an intake exhaust and piggy back computer and the ecoboost will fly. I love my boosted 150
