Default Help with Throttle linkage

Hi all. I am new to the Model A world. Just got a 1930 coupe with a Tillitson X carburetor. The carb is leaking so I bought a rebuild kit from Macs. After watching a bunch of Youtube videos on how to rebuild the carb I am about to take it off the car.

I have what may seem like a silly question...but I can't figure out how to remove the throttle linkage arm.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much!

It is spring loaded like a ball and socket joint. Take the part of the linkage that is on the carb and slide it forward while holding the link rod with the other hand to keep the link rod from moving. First time removing it is not obvious. From this point it gets easier. Oil the connection for the future so it can be more easily removed.

Thank you. You are correct. It did not seem obvious...but once I did it it was very easy.

Glad to help. Thanks for asking the question. Better to ask then break something.

When you have the Tillotson off and apart, check the intake mounting flange for flatness. Use 120 grit sandpaper on a flat surface, glass is excellent, and sand is a circle, you will see right away if its warped. You can also do the bottom half of the carb if needed. The main jet is bear to remove be careful.
