Default Choke & Throttle rods

On a 1938 pick up how do you remove the choke & throttle knobs from the rods to remove the rods so that the grommets can be replaced in the dash & firewall. Thanks in advance for the help

I pull both rods back through the dash and replace the grommets then reinstall the rods. I don't believe the knobs are removeable without incurring damage. When reinstalling the rods, put the firewall grommets on last as you will need to angle the rods to get them in and this will allow you some wiggle room.

On my 39 I ran into the same thing. the knobs are in decent shape and I cleaned them up and left them on. I did not want to damage them and have to get cheap replacements
