Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
Got a phone call last evening from Robert Paul; Model A shock rebuilder extraordinaire...he's back up and going again after thieves broke in and stole a good bit of his specialized equipment/tools earlier this year.
Just thought I'd pass it along...Mr Paul is a true craftsman and I'm happy to hear that he's back at work. Will update when my shocks arrive. |

I think he is still pretty backed up though.

Re: Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
I'm positive he is...I knew the 'turnaround' would be lengthy (Mr. Paul was up front about the turnaround) - even called after the break-in to advise on the delay it caused.
Luckily, I'm still several months from having a complete rolling chassis, so if you fellas need shocks rebuilt and are willing to wait, Mr. Paul is an option once again. |

Re: Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
I am glad to hear Robert is doing what he does very well again. He is a nice fellow. I had 3 sets of shocks done by him in the past 20 years. It takes several months to get shocks rebuilt by him, so plan accordingly. I wonder if the police caught the bastards that robbed him.

Does he sell sets outright, or only rebuild/exchange?

Re: Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
I had some shocks rebuilt about 2 years ago. He charged $55 per shock with your core. If your core is not rebuildable he can supply one for $20. I think his prices are probably the same, but with the robbery, maybe he raised them a little. The nice thing about Robert is he can trade your cores for his cores that are correct for the car you have. I have done that 2 times. I think he has lots of cores he can select from for the correct shocks you need.

Re: Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
Mr. Paul restored 4 shocks for in me in 1979 that went on my '31 Victoria. After 35 years, the shocks are still working properly, don't leak, and the car still rides properly.
Enough said. |

Robert rebuilt some for me and I'm very pleased. I'm going to send him some more.

Re: Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
I think he'll work with you if he has the cores...I sent him 3 mismatched shocks and he swapped bodies/covers around to make them correct for my May '30 chassis. His core charge is very reasonable, as are his rebuilding charges.
Just be patient...it may take some time. |

Re: Robert Paul (Shock Rebuilder) Up & Running Again
He was able to put together a full set for me when I found out the ones on my car were very wrong, but he apologized for how long it took. I thought his service was great and his prices were far less than I'd expected to pay for a full set.
