Default 42-48 hood hinge photos on car

I tried installing my hood today and came across problems. I'm pretty sure that the longer arm from the assembly that mounts to the firewall goes to the upper threaded part on the hood. I would like to see photos of hoods mounted on the car so I can see where I'm going wrong.

The long bracket (16783) attaches to the non threaded bracket riveted to the rear cross support in the back of the hood and the two short arms (on the 16797 bracket) attach to the two threaded holes of the side/rear bracket on the hood.

I hope this helps?

If you can get a copy of the May/June, 2009, issue of the V-8 Times there is an article on how to adjust and aligning the hood. It can be a real pain.

On the passenger side I was able to attach both arms to the threaded holes, but on the drivers side I was able to attach the longer arm okay but the shorter arm is an inch away and I do connect it the alignment of the latch at the front is far off.

I do have a copy of 'How to alignment the hood" but this is different. All the brackets and springs are new, I think from Vintique. I have the correct bolts from Carpenter.

Here are some photos of my problem. As you can see the hood does not align up, and the shorter arm on the drivers side sticks has a long way to go. I did have a friends push on the side of the hood so that I cold get the bolt in but the pressure caused it to pop out. Only one side of the hood can get both bolts in.
Any suggestions on what I should do?
